Bachelor Ep 2 Watch Guide & Week 1 Data

First and foremost, I need to start with a reminder that I do not cover spoilers here. Spoilers are content that I’m not interested in covering super in depth - I just don’t like spoiling people. Which leads to my biggest question this week…

FAQ: Does Instagram growth show spoilers?

That answer is NO IT DOESN’T. Spoilers had a big impact on social media growth pre-pandemic, but since the pandemic that’s changed. Here are some pre-hometowns growth for the last two seasons to show this point:

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about Daisy’s Instagram growth. I’m watching it closely right now and don’t have any alarms raising. Her growth is unlike anything I’ve seen in the last few years… BUT, she’s been going viral on Tiktok AND Instagram quite a bit. She has multiple videos with over a million views on both platforms. I remember when I first went viral with over a million views on a platform (back when Brendan and Pieper imploded on Paradise), I gained 14,000 followers in less than 24 hours.

I’ll keep this short for now, but from a data perspective Daisy is the ‘perfect storm’ for this show.

• She was an existing influencer before going on the show who grew a following with GOOD content (her story on losing her hearing and getting her cochlear impact)

• She has a story that captures viewer’s attention

• She’s getting a good edit on the show

• Production is showcasing her on social media

• And her demographics is one that largely caters to the audience that primary watches this show.

On the topic of demographics, I think Daisy having blonde hair is definitely working to her advantage as well. There are VERY few blondes this season (4ish). I don’t cover this for a reason: determining blonde vs brunette with highlights is a nightmare 😂. But there’s been a steep decline in blondes which makes them standout. I think that’s why we saw Autumn and Taylor gain a large number of followers (relative to most of the cast) regardless of getting low screen time.

What to Know for Episode 2 Tonight…

• The 1st one-on-one date of the season: I have a post with all the data going up this afternoon, but you can bet the recipient of the 1st one-on-one date of the season will go far (at least week 7). The only women to get the 1st one-on-one date of the season who DIDN’T make it past the middle of the season since 2009 was Christina on Zach’s season last year. A lot of these women went on to become the next Bachelorette too! Women who got this date that went on to become Bachelorette include: Hannah B, Becca, Caila (co-Bachelorette with Kaitlyn), Clare, Ashley H, Ali and Jillian.

• We’re getting a helicopter date!: This is being heavily promoted on social media content previewing for the upcoming episode by production. On The Bachelorette, the helicopter date is a one-way ticket to being eliminated before hometowns. On The Bachelor though, 11 of the last 22 helicopter dates have made it to hometowns. SO there’s a good chance the woman receiving the helicopter date tonight will go onto hometowns.

• Joey is absolutely SOARING on social media!: His social media growth after the first week of the show compared to previous leads…
